Actress Shritama Mitra is all set to portray a double role, that of Anjali, and the new lead and grownup daughter of Anjali by name Aarti in Star Plus’ popular show Advocate Anjali Awasthi produced by Blues Production. Shritama sees this as a fresh beginning after being part of the show for 11 months.
Says Shritama in an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, “This is a new challenge for me. I have been playing the role of Anjali for some time now. She has had a different voice modulation and mannerisms to follow. Now, Aarti is totally different in her walk, talk and appearance. This is like the launch of a new show for me (smiles).”
Describing Aarti, Shritama tells us, “Aarti is certainly her mother’s daughter. She fights for justice like Anjali. While her mother was an advocate, Aarti is a news reporter. She seeks justice in every situation. She is bubbly yet clumsy. Aarti is also loud like her mother, but her voice texture is different when compared to Anjali. Above all, Aarti’s goal in life is to ruin the existence of her mother’s enemies, who had changed her life totally.”
Talking about enacting the aged Anjali now, she states, “Yes, I will miss playing the young and vibrant Anjali. She will not be young anymore. Nevertheless, I will get into the skin of the young Aarti, which will make me feel better. I will, however, miss the long monologues and fight sequences as Anjali.”
Shritama says she will miss working with Ankit Raizada. “I will miss him a lot. We have been shooting together from day one, and not finding him on the set anymore is hard to take. We had a good time shooting together.”
About what audiences can expect with the post-leap phase, Shritama is clear of the fact that “The new story will be interesting and fresh. There will be new flavours added in the storyline. I hope that viewers shower love on both Anjali and Aarti now.”
Upon shooting becoming more hectic, with her having to portray the dual role, Shritama says, “Yes, the pressure is more on me, and I know it. Anjali was a different entity altogether and Aarti is very different from her. From the hair to the makeup to the look, everything is different for the characters. On my first day of shoot post the leap, I changed my look three to four times to play both characters. So this will be a daily routine from now on, and I am ready for the challenge. Also, there is the technical issue of involving both characters in one frame, which needs to be taken care of now.
Best of luck with the new phase, Shritama!!
