Vishal Karwal, the dimpled boy, who portrayed Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna in several mythological shows namely Swarna Swar Bharat, Dwarkadheesh Bhagwan Shri Krishna, and Naagarjun: Ek Yoddha, is seen playing Lord Vishnu for the sixth time in Sony SAB’s show Dharm Yoddha Garud. In a candid chat with IWMBuzz.com, the actor revealed his experience working for the show, commented on getting stereotyped, and more. Read on:

How has the experience been so far working for the show?

It has been amazing. I enjoy playing such characters. Hence it is very satisfying for me as an actor. You have to convince your audience that you a God. For that, you have to convince yourself first. That portion is tricky but I do it with conviction and at that moment I just feel I am a god. Playing a god on-screen is a surreal feeling.

The show is focusing on an important storyline of Samudra Manthan, how exciting it is to shoot for it and what can audiences expect in coming episodes?

The production house had done a fantastic job as far as the VFX is cornered. The way we have shot the show so far will be entertaining for the audience. I hope audiences would love the effort that we have put in as a team.

You have essayed God’s role numerous times; do you feel God has destined it for you?

I really take it as a blessing. I believe very few actors get this kind of opportunity. I have essayed lord Krishna and lord Vishnu a lot of times onscreen. I feel God has chosen me. And I have given my best to it.

Do you fear getting stereotyped?

Well, I would say that it’s not that I only do mytho shows. I recently did a series on Voot named Aadha Ishq. I have worked for a Disney Hotstar web show too which will be released next month. Having said that, whenever I get an offer of such roles wherein I have to play a god, I grab them. I take it as a blessing hence I never say no. I also never fear getting type cast. In fact, as an actor, I enjoy playing such roles.

What qualities have you imbibed after playing the role of Vishnu?

I have started reading a lot about Vishnu and Krishna. The first time I played the role of Krishna was in Dwarkadheesh Bhagwan Shri Krishna. Since then, I have read so many books related to Krishna. Also, I started visiting holy places like Varanasi, and Rishikesh. Overall, it has brought a big positive change in my life. I am much more spiritual than I was before.

How difficult is it to shoot in croma?

I am quite used to it now after doing a lot of mytho shows in the past. Otherwise, the costume and jewellery are very heavy. It is very tiring. However, I take it as a challenge and hence enjoy shooting for the same.

Any final message

I want audiences to watch Garud as we have something amazing in store for the audiences. I hope they keep loving the show.
