Your role in Jagadhatri forms an integral part of the main narrative, even in a multi-starrer show. Tell us about that.
Maya is one of the foundational pillars of the show, along with Jagadhatri, Shivay, Rudra, and Mahesh. While there are multiple parallel tracks, these characters form the backbone of the story. Being one of the central pillars in such a strong narrative is very fulfilling.
Do you find any similarities between yourself and Maya?
Yes, in many ways. Like Maya, I value family above everything else. We both live for the people we love and want to be accepted by those closest to us. That emotional core is something I deeply relate to.
How would you define Maya?
The name itself is suggestive—there’s a mystique to her. She’s strong, fair, emotionally driven, and deeply protective. She’s a business tycoon who has carved her own space in a man’s world, yet she’s also a vulnerable single mother dealing with personal loss.
Will we get to see more of Maya’s past in the story?
Yes, definitely. Many truths are yet to be revealed—her past, her marriage, and her emotional wounds. As the narrative progresses, these layers will slowly unfold.
What do you like the most about Maya?
Her complexity. She’s fierce on the outside and soft within. She’s confident, emotional, fair, and deeply human. There’s no single way to portray her, and that makes her incredibly exciting as an actor.
What prompted you to take up this role?
I’m always drawn to roles that challenge me. When I heard the story and understood Maya’s character, I knew this was something special. It’s a progressive show with strong female characters, and that was a huge draw for me.
How has the journey been so far with the team of Jagadhatri?
It’s been wonderful. My association with Zee TV goes way back, and collaborating with friends like Rahul Tewary always makes the journey more special. The entire team—cast and crew—has been extremely supportive.
How do you think the show balances its undercover-agent concept with family drama?
That balance is what makes Jagadhatri unique. While it’s a family drama at heart, it also explores intrigue, suspense, and strong professional identities—especially of women. The writers have done a fantastic job maintaining that fine balance.
What can viewers expect from Maya’s track going forward?
Viewers can expect emotional revelations, moral dilemmas, and powerful confrontations. Maya’s journey is only getting deeper, and the choices she makes when faced with the truth will define the next phase of the story.
