What made you say a yes to Aye Mere Humsafar?

I wanted to work with Shashi Sumeet productions for a very long time but I was always preoccupied with other shows whenever they had something to offer. But post lockdown even though I had offers for other shows, I grabbed the opportunity of working with them for Dangal’s Aye Mere Humsafar and Sundar is a wonderful role to take up.

Tell us about your role in Aye Mere Humsafar?

Sundar Kothari has a very simple yet serious personality. He is not very outgoing and talks only when necessary. He is generally overpowered by the women in his life. He doesn’t have a very strong personality and thus often goes along with what his mother and wife say.

What is different about this show?

I have done quite a few shows in my career and have also seen some but I don’t think I have seen such a different story like Aye Mere Humsafar yet. We see a mother who after losing her husband has stood on her own feet and managed to build an empire while taking care of the family. Going forward we will slowly understand her struggles and sacrifices through the journey. We also see the female lead – Vidhi – working hard to follow her dreams irrespective of her disabilities. So yes, it is different from the rest and we hope Dangal’s audience accepts us with open arms.

Tell us about your bonding with the co-actors?

Every member in the team is sweet and co-operative. While I have worked with some earlier, most are new for me. So slowly we are gelling up with each other.

How has your journey in the industry been so far?

My journey in the industry has been rocking. While I just stumbled upon the entertainment industry, I started with modeling and then moved to the television industry. But it has blessed me with some amazing opportunities I am grateful for.

How did you spend your time in the lockdown?

I spent it at home with my family. Well, at the start I tried my hand in cooking but it is a lot of work. So I took up the cleaning and dusting duties. In fact, I still have to do it post-shoot.

Do you follow a fitness regime?

I love cycling a lot. I cyclevery often. I used to go to the gym before lockdown but now I try to work out at home.

How does it feel to be shooting after a long break due to the lockdown?

It’s a good feeling to get back on sets. I was really bored at home for 4 long months. I am glad Aye Mere Humsafar happened. I am a little scared of the virus even today though. I make sure everyone around me is wearing a mask whenever possible. After all, taking precautions is the only thing in our hands right now.
