Let’s be honest: we have given chocolate an entirely unnecessary reputation as a “guilty pleasure.” We wrap it in rules, save it for “cheat days,” and overthink a moment that is meant to be pure bliss. But life is simply too short for that. Chocolate shouldn’t be a negotiation; it should be a celebration. For actress Vaishnavi Ganatra, who plays the role of Aarna in Zee TV’s Jagadhatri, chocolate isn’t just a treat—it’s an energy, a memory, and the ultimate way to bring people together. On the occasion of World Chocolate Day, we at IWMBuzz.com talked to Vaishnavi about her love for chocolates.

Every day brings a different rhythm, and if Vaishnavi had to map her current energy to a flavour, it wouldn’t be a plain bar of milk chocolate. Instead, it is something with depth. “I’d describe myself as a caramel-filled chocolate today,” she shares, flashing a bright smile. “It is really sweet and has that comforting, cosy feel to it, but there’s also a little surprise hidden inside. That’s exactly the kind of energy I’m carrying today.”

While many view chocolate as a forbidden temptation, Vaishnavi has drawn a firm line when it comes to overthinking her cravings. To her, happiness shouldn’t be parsed or bargained with. “Me personally, I don’t negotiate with chocolate. If I want a piece, I eat the piece happily,” she says firmly. “And absolutely! I think we’ve given chocolate an unnecessary reputation as a guilty pleasure. Sometimes, it’s just a small moment of joy, and I don’t think we should feel bad about that. I celebrate it by enjoying it without overthinking it—life’s too short not to have that piece of chocolate when you want it.”

When it comes to her ultimate favourites, Vaishnavi’s loyalty lies deeply rooted in nostalgia. “I’d definitely choose Cadbury,” she admits. “It has been a part of so many memories growing up, and what I love most is that there’s something for every mood and every occasion. Whether you’re craving something classic, indulgent, crunchy, or fun, there’s always a Cadbury chocolate that fits the moment, so I don’t think I’d ever get bored.”

Forget tiny, measured squares—Vaishnavi goes all out for a perfect movie night. “A big tub of chocolate ice cream! And that, paired with a bunch of chocolatey toppings. Something like Cadbury Nutties, M&M’s and KitKat chunks. It’s comforting, goes perfectly with a good movie, and honestly, movie nights and chocolate ice cream are a combination that’s hard to beat.”

Ultimately, Vaishnavi believes that sweetness is meant to be shared. If she had the power to rewrite traditions, she would introduce a ritual centred entirely around community and discovery. “I’d start a ‘Chocolate Swap’ tradition where everyone brings their favourite chocolate and exchanges it with someone else. It’s such a fun way to discover new favourites, and I think sharing something as simple as chocolate is a lovely way to bring people together.”

And if you’re wondering who gets the front-row seat to her grandest chocolate moments, the answer lies closest to her heart. “I’d share it with my best friend because we’re the kind of people who can turn the simplest things into lasting memories,” Vaishnavi concludes warmly. “Good conversations, lots of laughter, and a favourite chocolate, being eaten straight from the packet—that sounds like the perfect combination to me.”

And of course, enjoy the day with your favourite chocolates!!
