Actress Parakh Madan, currently portraying Niyati in Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms’ Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, shares how her mother has played an essential role in her life. In celebration of Mother’s Day, Parakh reflects on her mother and the cherished memories they’ve created together.

Says Parakh, ”My mother is my greatest source of strength and the silent force whose unwavering support has shaped the person I am today. My mother is an eternal optimist and has always taught me to look at the brighter side of things, irrespective of circumstances. I always try to keep that lesson in mind.”

We all have so many great memories with our moms. On her special memories, Parakh says, ”There are many, but to name one particular memory that I cherish the most has to be our champi (head massages) time. We talk about anything and everything while she oils my hair every weekend. And I make sure that the conversation keeps going because her champi is magical and I try to linger it for as long as I can.”

Mothers always sacrifice for their families, and Parakh’s mom is no exception. Talking about that, she says,” I’ve always known about her sacrifices and selfless acts of kindness, but the true realisation that hits you in the quiet hours of the night came when the world became smaller and quieter after my Dad passed. Seeing her navigate life after 2017 with such grace made me look back at my entire childhood through a different filter.”

Parakh confides her special wish, saying, ”I wish I had thanked her more for her silences. Not just the words of encouragement, but the silent sacrifices—the times she stayed quiet about her own worries so I could focus on myself and my career with a clear head. I try to make up for it now by making sure she knows that every bit of “energy” and success I have is a reflection of the foundation she built.”

For Parakh, the real meaning of Mother’s Day is all about gratification. She says, ”It’s about recognising that while I may be the one in front of the camera or on the stage, my mom is the light that makes the performance possible. It’s a day to convey to her that, “I see you, I honour you, and I am who I am because of your courage.”
