Rajveer Singh of Star Bharat show, Sufiyana Pyaar Mera, accepts that the show has not done well. “It is really disappointing that after so much hard work, the numbers don’t reflect.”

“There could be several reasons behind it – story, execution, and yes, even lack of promotions, which today play an very important role in any show’s success.”

“But at the end of the day we are just actors who can deliver given lines. It is the makers and the channel who need to take calls.”

Point out that there was buzz that the channel might pull the plug on the show, and he states, “We too had heard similar rumours but we spoke to the production house (Danesh Javed and Prateek Sharma). They denied any such possibility and I trust them.”

“So far, we are on and there is enough juice left in the story to make yet another splash, fingers crossed.”

Here Rajveer, who debuted with the ill-fated Star Plus afternoon show, Kya Kasoor Hai Amla Ka, admitted that the story had indeed gone off kelter, which was somewhat retrieved with the introduction of the other family (Vijendra Kumaria). “However, if you ask me, I still feel that the show must return to its sufi roots of love. Showing murders is a damper. There is already enough violence in society; why do you want to see more of the same on TV?”

“Also, from the limited social media chatter, I feel that fans want to see more of my character’s (Zaroon) chem with Saltanat (Helly Shah), rather than family drama.”

Unlike other actors, Rajveer prefers to follow the given lines to the t. “I don’t add my own bit, for A, I am too new, and B, there is lot of red tape to follow before you are given the latitude to do your own thing. I don’t have so much time to invest. I’d rather follow the writer’s brief and be done with it.”

Coming to his on and off screen equation with Helly, he says, “We have not shot much together of late, with story changes. We are not the best of friends, preferring to stick to our respective spaces. Yet, never has there been a moment when we have either ignored the other or walked out in a huff.”
