From winning hearts with her remarkable portrayal of Natasha Pandya in Star Plus’s popular drama, Priyanshi Yadav has established herself as one of television’s most promising young talents. After handling the immense responsibility of carrying forward an iconic ensemble show, Priyanshi is back on the screen to captivate audiences once again. She now stars as Vrinda in Zee TV’s newly launched emotional family drama, Tu Hi Re Dil Mein.
In a candid conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Priyanshi opens up about her transition from her real-life bubbly persona to the quiet, self-sacrificing nature of Vrinda, how she manages lead-role pressure, and what makes her current show a unique watch.
How do you mentally prepare to portray a character who constantly puts her own desires on the back burner?
Vrinda is very different from who I am in real life, so getting into her mindset definitely takes a lot of mental preparation. I often find myself wondering how someone can quietly endure so much without complaining. Priyanshi is not someone who stays silent if something is bothering her, whereas Vrinda believes in accepting every challenge with patience and faith. She truly believes that God will eventually make everything right. There are moments while shooting emotional scenes when you become so immersed in the character that you actually start feeling everything she is going through.
Yet, as Vrinda, you have to remain calm and composed because that’s who she is. Before every emotional scene, I remind myself that I have to think like Vrinda and react the way she would, not the way Priyanshi would. That mental shift is probably the most challenging yet rewarding part of playing her.
I genuinely think patience is one quality everyone should have because when you’re patient, you make better decisions and keep moving forward with faith. That is something I have definitely learned from playing Vrinda.
What do you think sets Tu Hi Re Dil Mein apart from the other family dramas currently on television?
When the show was first announced, many people assumed it would be similar to other family dramas. But as the story unfolds, you realise that it has a very different emotional journey. What makes Tu Hi Re Dil Mein unique is that our three central characters—Vrinda, Sanjay, and Swati—are all positive. None of them is a villain, and none of them intentionally wants to hurt the others.
They are simply people trying to deal with the circumstances that life throws at them. The show beautifully explores love, destiny, relationships, and emotions without making anyone completely right or wrong. Every twist changes the perspective, and I think that is what keeps the audience invested.
Is there any quality of Vrinda’s that you find yourself adopting in your real life?
Without a doubt, patience. Vrinda has taught me the value of staying calm even during the toughest situations. She never loses hope and continues believing that everything will eventually fall into place. I genuinely think patience is one quality everyone should have because when you’re patient, you make better decisions and keep moving forward with faith. That is something I have definitely learned from playing Vrinda.
Did you have to consciously unlearn certain body language patterns or any other attributes from your past work to make sure Vrinda feels unique?
Yes, absolutely. Every character deserves its own identity. Priyanshi, in real life, is very bubbly, carefree, fun-loving, and expressive. Vrinda, on the other hand, is quiet, innocent, gentle, and extremely soft-spoken. So I had to consciously slow down my expressions, body language, and reactions to match her personality. Getting into Vrinda’s calm and composed nature was something I worked on consistently because I wanted the audience to believe in her innocence and simplicity.
From being part of an ensemble cast in Pandya Store to now playing lead roles, how has your approach to handling the pressure of a show changed?
I honestly don’t believe in taking pressure. Of course, playing the lead comes with greater responsibility because a lot depends on you, but pressure doesn’t help anyone perform better. I believe in staying calm, working hard, and being sincere towards my work. Whether I am playing a lead role, a supporting character, or any other part, my approach has always remained the same. I believe every role deserves complete honesty and dedication. If you stay committed to your work and keep giving your best every single day, everything else eventually falls into place.
I have always believed that the only thing within an actor’s control is to work hard and remain honest towards the craft.
How has it been working with Abrar Qazi and Simran Rawal?
Working with Abrar and Simran has been wonderful. The three of us make a really good team, and we genuinely enjoy working together. Off-screen, we have a lot of fun, and that comfort naturally reflects in our scenes. Both of them are extremely hardworking and talented actors.
Whether I am performing with Abrar or Simran, every scene becomes a learning experience because they bring so much sincerity to their performances. I truly believe that when you’re surrounded by good actors, your own performance automatically becomes better, and I feel very fortunate to be sharing the screen with both of them.
What are your expectations from the show and your role?
I have always believed that the only thing within an actor’s control is to work hard and remain honest towards the craft. Of course, I want Tu Hi Re Dil Mein to do well and for the audience to shower it with love, but more than expectations, I focus on giving my hundred per cent every single day.
Vrinda is such a challenging and emotionally layered character that I have learned something new through her every day. Playing someone so different from me has helped me grow tremendously as an actor. We have made this show with a lot of love, sincerity, and hard work. I know it always takes time for audiences to embrace a new show, but I truly believe that genuine effort never goes unnoticed. I hope viewers continue to connect with our story and give Tu Hi Re Dil Mein all their love.
