Actor Adrija Roy who plays the role of Raahi in Star Plus and Rajan Shahi’s Anupamaa believes that the real reward of being part of the entertainment industry lies in its ability to inspire people and build an emotional connection with audiences. Known for her sincere performances and steady rise in the television space, the actor says that storytelling goes far beyond visibility or success.

“Storytelling is not just about being seen on screen. It is about leaving an impact that stays with people even after the screen goes blank,” Adrija shares.

Talking about what she enjoys most about her work, Adrija highlights the creative freedom that comes with acting and the journey of bringing a character to life. “The process of transforming an idea into a performance is both challenging and fulfilling. When a story or a character resonates with people, it makes all the hard work worthwhile. Being able to touch hearts and inspire someone through your work is the most beautiful part of this profession,” she says.

While she acknowledges that the industry comes with its own pressures, Adrija is candid about the emotional highs and lows actors face. “There is constant judgment, expectations and reactions after every project, and at times it can feel overwhelming. But learning how to handle both appreciation and criticism is an essential part of growth,” she explains. For her, resilience and self-belief are key to navigating the uncertainties of the profession. “Despite everything, I would not trade this journey for anything else,” she adds.

On the personal front, the actor emphasises the importance of maintaining physical and mental well-being. “No matter how busy my schedule gets, I try to focus on a healthy lifestyle. Working out and staying active help me stay grounded and focused,” Adrija says. She believes fitness is not about perfection but consistency and self-care. “That time becomes my personal space to reset and recharge amid a demanding routine,” she notes.

When asked about what it truly takes to become an actor, Adrija points to authenticity as the most important quality. “Being honest in your craft and staying true to yourself helps create a genuine connection with the audience. Along with that, passion and dedication towards the craft are equally crucial,” she says.

According to her, the acting journey is filled with both success and setbacks, and one must be prepared to face love and criticism with the same grace. “Real growth comes from learning through every experience and continuously evolving as an artist,” Adrija concludes. “For me, acting is not just a profession. It is a constant process of self-discovery, learning and inspiring others through meaningful storytelling.”
