Actor Rinku Dhawan, who plays Rajni in Rajan Shahi and Star PlusAnupamaa, opens up about her character’s layered personality and her refreshing chemistry with co-star Rupali Ganguly.

Talking about Rajni, Rinku shares, “My character is that of a nagarsevika, which is almost like an MLA. She is very clear about what she wants. She is an ambitious woman who wants to fulfil her dreams, and for that, she even got married to a man she was not in love with back in college. But he had a political background, so you can call my character an opportunist — and she owns it.”

Rinku says Rajni’s shades and unapologetic drive make her exciting to portray. “She is someone who knows how to use situations to her advantage. That’s what makes her interesting.”

The actor also praises her on-screen chemistry with Rupali Ganguly, calling it a major highlight of her shooting experience. “My chemistry with Rupali is like sone pe suhaga. It’s amazing to shoot with her because she has good vibes and great energy,” Rinku says.

She adds that both of them share a natural understanding when it comes to scenes. “We both understand improvisations and spontaneously pick up each other’s improvisations and support them rather than being clueless. It’s fun working with her, and that’s the advantage of working with a good actor.”

While their on-screen pairing is seamless, Rinku reveals they hardly get time for long conversations off-screen. “We honestly don’t get time to sit and chit-chat because even if I am free, Rupali is still shooting. But when we’re on set, she is very easy-going. Offscreen, it’s good — the comfort is there even without constant interaction.”
