Aashay Mishra on his new show Story 9 Months Ki

Sukirti Kandpal is a disciplined actor: Story 9 Months Ki actor Aashay Mishra

Aashay Mishra, who is known for acting chops in Pyaar Ke Papad, essays the lead role of Sarangdhar Pandey opposite Alia Shroff (Sukirti Kandpal) in Sony TV show Story 9 Months Ki. In the show, Sarangdhar is an aspiring writer from Mathura who has run away to Mumbai to start his career at the age of 30 against his father’s will.

The show, which explores the concept of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), is a story about two completely opposite characters who belong to different worlds and how their journeys collide.

Speaking about his character, Aashay shares, “I am super excited to be back on shoot after a long wait of one year. I auditioned 17-18 times for the character and finally, everything fell into place and now I am happy to play the role of Sarangdhar. Sarangdhar is a man who is moved by emotions and is impulsive yet optimistic by nature. He is a wizard of words and a master of expressions. He is the kind who can befriend just about anyone, anywhere. I do find similarities with my role. Sarangdhar has a strong creative side and I am a creative junkie, too.”

Commenting on the preparations for the role, he says, “As I was not working on any show, I worked on myself, worked on many internal aspects of myself and mentally refreshed myself. I studied the character well and invested my time in preparing for it. I worked on my body language and accent to get the perfect flavour of the character. I am sure the audience will love the show. The relatable characters and the concept are the USP of the serial.”

Like Sarangdhar, Aashay played a similar role in his previous outing Pyaar Ke Papad, when asked if he feared getting stereotyped, he adds, “I was skeptical to take up the project. However, when I was gearing up for my look test, I made sure that the type of clothes, hair and makeup that I will wear should be different. I also worked on small details of the character like the overall body posture and small nuances of the role. The character traits of both Omkar from Pyaar Ke Papad and Sarangdhar from Story 9 Months Ki are different and hence I took up the project. Now, post this I would want to play an urban character like a business tycoon.”

Finally sharing his experience of working with Sukirti Kandpal, he mentions, “She is a disciplined actor and comes with a lot of experience. She is someone who doesn’t talk much but she is a good co-actor to work with. It has been a good experience to work with her.”

Good luck Aashay!
