Param may not be the kind of character viewers root for, but that is precisely the point. Actor Micckie Dudaaney, who plays the antagonist in ‘ Star Plus‘ Oh Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera, produced by Studio LSD, is fully invested in every twist the show throws his way. The recent developments have added a particularly personal dimension to Param’s story, and he explains why this track cuts deeper than most.
He said, “The recent twists definitely affect all the characters in the show. Right now, Aparajita is helping Arvind Bhardwaj get back into the saree business, and just a few weeks ago, I had a scene where I went to the Bhardwaj house and met Arvind Bhardwaj, someone I truly respect because he has been my guru. But he doesn’t even recognise me because of his illness. That was a deeply affecting moment for my character because he was the best in the business, and I learned everything from him.”
“As a competitor in the saree business, I always felt I could beat Rakshit, but beating Arvind Bhardwaj is a completely different challenge. So now that Aparajita is helping him get back on his feet, my character will be deeply affected. The growing closeness between Aparajita and Rakshit also adds another layer to it. The storyline affects everyone, but I think Param will be most challenged because Arvind Bhardwaj is returning to the business, and that is something he absolutely does not want,” he added.
Beyond the story, Micckie has a clear-eyed view of why the show continues to find its audience despite how much the viewing landscape has shifted. He said, “Viewing habits have definitely changed. From cable, people moved to OTT, and now vertical platforms are growing in a big way. But television has always been there and will always remain an integral part of daily entertainment.”
He stressed that the mode of viewing has shifted, but people are still watching. He continued, “This show works especially well because of the lead pair. Shabir’s and Sriti’s chemistry is superb. On top of that, the writing is exceptional. Every single character is well-defined and adds something meaningful to the story. It has the emotions and drama that audiences want, and that is why people keep coming back.”
On the question of balancing performance with the pressures of daily storytelling, he is quick to credit the people behind the scenes. He said, “That completely depends on the writers. It is not easy to hold an audience every single day for half an hour and make them come back for the next episode. With God’s grace, we have wonderful writers who truly understand what the audience wants. They write the story with a larger arc and subplots in mind, and as an actor, I perform what is given to me.”
“If I were to change my approach based on external pressure, I would not be able to do justice to the storyline. I trust my writers and director completely, and they know how to take the story forward,” he added.
The Aparajita-Rakshit dynamic remains the emotional core of the show, and he is unambiguous about what makes it work. He said, “Their relationship is very special. All I want to say is that when they are on screen together, you simply would not want to look anywhere else. They have their cute moments, their ups and downs, and a chemistry that is rare to find.”
“The entire team works really hard to complement each other, and the audience feels that effort. That is why people are so deeply connected to this pair,” Micckie ended.
