Actor Amal Sehrawat, known for his performances in television shows such as Choti Sarrdaarni and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has also been part of films and digital projects. His work includes Vikram Bhatt’s Untouchables, Habib Faisal’s Home, Apoorva Lakhia’s Crackdown, and films such as Satya 2 and Sarkar 3, directed by Ram Gopal Varma.

As Diwali approaches, the actor looks forward to spending quality time with his loved ones and celebrating the festival with warmth and gratitude. For him, the festival has taken on a deeper meaning over the years. “As a child, Diwali was all about lights, sweets, crackers, new clothes and celebrating with family. As I’ve grown older, the meaning has become much deeper. Today, I see light as a symbol of clarity, positivity and inner peace. I feel the real darkness we need to overcome is often within us: our fears, insecurities, ego and negativity. For me, Diwali is now a reminder to keep evolving as a human being, stay grateful and never allow the light within you to fade,” he says.

Talking about his Diwali celebrations, Amal shares that he prefers spending the festival with family and people who matter to him. “For me, Diwali is essentially about being with family and people who matter. I like keeping the celebrations warm, intimate and meaningful. Lighting diyas, doing the Lakshmi puja, enjoying some good food and spending quality time with loved ones are the things I look forward to. Our lives can get so hectic that festivals become a beautiful excuse to slow down, reconnect and appreciate what we have,” he says.

The festive season can also be a busy time for actors, with professional commitments often taking priority. Speaking about managing work and celebrations, he says, “I think balance is all about priorities. Our profession demands a lot of time, energy and commitment, and I genuinely respect that. Having said that, I also believe that certain moments with family and loved ones are irreplaceable. I’ve always felt that work is an important part of life, but it shouldn’t become your entire life. I try to plan things in a way that allows me to fulfil my professional commitments while also making time for the people and traditions that keep me grounded.”

Recalling his most memorable Diwali celebrations, Amal says his childhood memories continue to hold a special place in his heart. “Some of my fondest Diwali memories are from childhood, when the excitement was in the simplest things: decorating the house, lighting diyas, getting together with family and waiting for the festivities to begin. But one Diwali that gave me a different perspective was when I had to celebrate away from my family because I was shooting. Initially, I did miss being home, but the warmth of my co-actors and the entire crew made me realise something beautiful. Sometimes, the people you work with become an extended family. It reminded me that the spirit of Diwali is not just about where you celebrate, but also about the people with whom you share that moment,” he shares.

For Amal, Diwali is also an occasion to reflect on the importance of kindness, gratitude and inner peace. Sharing a message for his fans, he says, “I’d say, never let the circumstances around you take away the light within you. Life will have its share of difficult days, disappointments and uncertainties, but don’t lose your kindness, compassion or faith in yourself. Be a little more patient with people, a little more forgiving and a lot more grateful. We spend so much time chasing things that we sometimes forget to appreciate what we already have.”

He concludes, “My message would be simple: Be someone’s reason to smile, spread light wherever you go and remember that the greatest celebration is when you have peace within yourself. Happy Diwali!”
