One of the most-watched sitcoms on Indian television, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has been delighting viewers for the past 13 years. The 2008-launched programme has a particular place in viewers’ hearts and frequently ranks at the top of TRP lists.

On October 3, 2021, Ghanshyam Nayak, also known as Nattu Kaka, passed away from a rare kind of cancer. Nattu Kaka, Jethalal’s assistant at Gada Electronics, was a noteworthy character in the programme thanks to Nayak. The comic timing of Nayak and Dilip Joshi, who plays Jethalal, is well-known. The show’s creators began their quest for the replacement of Nattu Kaka after Nayak passed away.

Earlier some photos were going viral on the internet about the new artist who would be cast in the character. However, there was no official announcement made by the makers of the show.

In a very recent video, we see Asit Kumar Modi, the show’s producer, enter Gada Electronics and give us a virtual tour of the place. He talked about how Gada Electronics reminds us all of Nattu Kaka. Some glimpses of the good old times were shown. He also said that even Nattu Kaka surely misses all the comic happenings at Gada Electronics when he will see from above. After that, we see an entry of a new Nattu kaka in the show. Mr Modi appealed to the audience to give the same love to this Nattu kaka as they had given to the late Mr Nayak.

Fans posted emotional comments on the video. One of them said, “Nattu kaka will forever be in our hearts”. Another wrote, “Ghanshyam Nayak was an absolute gem and will always stay in our hearts as the first Nattu kaka. Nobody can replace what he brought to that character. But as they say, the show must go on. Will accept the new person in character with as much affection…”
