Actor Sunny Sachdeva, currently seen as Aham Mittal in the Dangal TV show Mann Atisundar, says his character’s shift from positive to grey is entirely driven by the narrative and not a change in the core of the role.

Talking about his track in the show, Sachdeva explained, “It’s situational. My role, Aham, in the show is mostly positive, but when the story demands, I’ve done scenes where my track and character appeared negative. Occasionally, the plot requires a darker turn, so my character’s actions might look negative in those moments. It’s a narrative choice, not a shift in the character’s core nature.”

The actor, known for his stints in shows like Jhanak, Pyaar Ke Saath Vachan Dharam Patnii, Sherdil Shergill, Naagin 6, Harphoul Mohini, Pinjara Khubsurati Ka, and Zindagi Ki Mehek, also spoke about the volatility of the television industry today.

“The television industry today is a storm of uncertainty. Shows debut with fanfare and vanish within months, casualties of relentless ratings pressure. For actors, this makes building a career on TV alone feel like standing on shifting sand,” he said.

Sachdeva added that talent alone doesn’t guarantee longevity on TV. “Talent and hard work aren’t enough when a single week’s numbers decide a show’s fate. It demands resilience, adaptability, and the wisdom to never put all your hope in one screen. In this era, versatility isn’t optional—it’s survival,” he added.

The actor said he is now keen to explore reality television to show audiences a side of him beyond scripted roles. “Over the years, I have played either a negative or young, angry man kind of roles on screen. Scripted roles mean playing a character, the audience knows me as an actor, but they are yet to connect with my real version,” he said.

“So I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be on a reality TV show, which will allow me to shape how audiences see me. I can show them my humour, vulnerability, and work ethic. After playing villains or side characters for years, I want to reset that perception,” Sachdeva concluded.
