Says Indira, “Television has been my backbone as an actor. I explored my skills as an actor through the medium of TV. As I saw growth in my career, a lot of people came up to me and said that I would not get films if I did TV. But for me, television is like a ‘Masterchef’ medium – the more I explored through my character, the more I acquired skillset and finesse.”

She continues to say, “Growth as a TV actor, for me, signifies that I have been consistent in my craft. This shows in the popularity and recognition I got for the varied roles I have played.”

On sharing a special connection with her audiences, watching her from the confines of their homes, Indira says, “I established a strong connect with my audiences through the characters I played. Slowly, they connected with me as a performer and accepted the characters I played with all sincerity. The roles I played felt relatable – whether it be Krishnadasi or Krishnaben Khakhrawala. It was a correlation with the audience.”

Indira today loves all the recognition she has got. Presently playing the power-packed role of Durgavati in Zee TV‘s Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, produced by Dreamiyata Entertainment, she says with utmost honesty, “I enjoy the fame of consistency that I have bagged on TV. The mighty Shah Rukh Khan, too, began his journey as an actor on television. Even today, you hear him talk about his beginning on the small screen. I owe every bit of my experience as a performer to television.”

True, that and well-said!!

Happy World Television Day!!
