Kishori Shahane, who started her acting career with theatre and films, found her home ground in the medium of television after marriage. The actress has done varied roles, both positive and negative, on TV. Presently, the actress is seen in Star Plus‘ show Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahi, produced by Cockrow and Shaika Entertainment. Today, 21 November, on the occasion of World Television Day, Kishori talks about television shaping the lives of many actors.
Says Kishori, “Initially, I was mostly into theatre and films. Television was not that big in the past. With time, TV grew leaps and bounds. Television has boosted many people’s careers. I did remarkably well in films before marriage. But after marriage, with my son born, I could not travel much. This is when television came my way. I did a lot of TV shows, was seen in varied roles, which gave me immense popularity, and also kept me near my home.”
Recollecting the varied shows on TV, Kishori avers, “Koi Apnaa Saa, Solhah Singaar, Ghar Ek Mandir, many Balaji shows, Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein, Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye, have given me great moments. Presently, I play a very good role in Star Plus’ Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahi. I am proud to be a part of the medium of TV. People watch TV on a large scale.”
To make a character authentic, Kishori takes the tough route. “I study the character to make the role authentic. I go very deep, and don’t remember Kishori Shahane at all. I become the character I play. Nandita, my present character in Maane Ke Hum Yaar Nahi, is a person with depression. She is positive. If you play a negative character for a long time, you need to work very differently for a positive role. That’s what I worked on for Nandita.”
Kishori Shahane loves being called an actor, and thanks her fans for the abundant love!!
