Sasural Simar Ka 2 takes us back to the very popular, widely watched show Sasural Simar Ka which rolled out as the tale between two sisters Simar and Roli. The show had a great run in its first season, and touched many social issues, created awareness and also took to the fantasy route later on wherein it moved away from the realistic zone. But whatever it was, the show could not be ignored for the kind of curiosity factor it generated, especially when it treaded into the fantasy segment of the storyline.

Now coming to the new offering, Sasural Simar Ka 2, Colors has made a really good move to bring this back to the audiences. A new flavor and storyline, keeping segments of the first season intact, will be the perfect formula for success. Colors has been dipping in numbers of late, with their major shows facing the heat of competition. Sasural Simar Ka 2 can very well be the show that will start a revival of sorts.

Producer Rashmi Sharma has a keen eye and hold on the likeability factor of the viewers. And she along with Colors weave new magic in the new tale. Dipika Kakar playing her part as the Simar from the original season should be doing the trick for the production house. And this time, it is more of a smarter play by the creative think-tank by involving her in the process of finding the soulmates for the lead boys, Aarav (Avinash Mukherjee) and Vivaan (Karan Sharma).

Guess this comes with the lesson learnt in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2, their other new season show that launched a few months back on Star Plus. The show took time to garner numbers after the original Saathiya actors, Gopi Bahu and Kokila left the scene after the initial few week’s run of the story. So good learning indeed, which is right on target!!

Coming to the storyline, smart move again to bring in Jayati Bhatia, not as Mataji, but her twin sister Badi Mataji. Jayati is in her great element once again. The presence of Dipika for a longer run, and Jayati for the whole tenure of the show will surely add more to the drama.

On the new additions in Season 2, the leads look well-placed. Radhika Muthukumar as Simar and Tanya Sharma as Reema are doing a good job. Avinash Mukherjee looks really fresh we must say. After playing a brotherly role in Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, and getting into the lead role is really commendable for him. He plays Aarav really well. His dashing look will garner him more of the female fan following. Karan Sharma as Vivaan is doing a great job. We are seeing Karan again after a while, and he too brings in the freshness factor. Tanya is fabulous in the role of the hot-minded, ambitious Reema. There is a lot more to come in her role, and more scope for performance ahead, is what we feel. Radhika Muthukumar is good casting, and she has put in the best of expressions. Her classical singing aspect is really a job well done.

There are many senior and young actors like Shakti Singh, Anita Kulkarni, Aarav Chowdhary, Rajev Paul, Shital Thakkar, Vibha Bhagat, Leena Prabhu, Waseem Mushtaq, Akash Jagga etc are again doing a good job.

The screenplay has been pacey and quite a lot has happened in the first week. The drama value has kickstarted with the recent ploy of poison creating more curiosity. There are also certain hidden layers placed in Gitanjali’s past life which has been given small notice.

The love stories in the show will surely be eye-catchy as the leads and the pairings appear to be good and impactful. Hoping that the story that comes out is sensible and realistic to the viewers.

All seems hunky-dory for the cast and storyline in its initial two weeks, is what we can say. The only tough aspect which can never be answered is whether the show will garner a lot of eyeballs, considering that it is new and there is no connectivity factor with the viewers and that it comes during the tough phase that people find themselves in. With so much trauma in every house in the Nation, we hope not that the launch of Sasural Simar Ka 2 happened at bad timing. Fingers crossed!! We keep the positivity factor alive and kicking here!! The show must go on….
