Producers Dipti Kalwani and Karishma Jain’s new romantic thriller Fanaa – Ishq Mein Marjawan for Colors comes with huge expectations. The cult concept in its last two editions garnered all eyeballs and was lit up adequately with the intriguing and curiosity creating elements in the story plot. Likewise, we should say that the new season of the show has seen a good start!! The cast of the show has already had the viewers glued to it. This is Zain Imam’s second show with Dipti Kalwani after Ek Bhram Sarvagunn Sampann. Their last association was magical and considering that Zain this time, plays an extremely contrasting role, that of the antihero has already been the icing on the cake.

Reem Shaikh is a talented performer and exudes class in her look too. She will in a quick time grab all attention. Akshit Sukhija is the perfect fodder for the romantic hero material.

Coming to the concept, the first week belongs to the super-duper combination of Zain Imam and Ayaz Ahmed. Zain Imam, plays Agastya the successful businessman with a heart of gold towards children. He has a troubled past and is seen brooding for his mother who has probably betrayed his father and family. He has an emotional side to him, which bursts out every now and then when he sees kids being cajoled and loved by their mothers. On the contrary, he is a devil, an obsessive lover who has been stalking his girl by placing hidden cameras at every nook and corner of her room and loves to enjoy seeing her private moments on screen. He has a man/ woman in place to always take care of Pakhi (Reem Shaikh), his love. The one who fails in doing so is severely punished. Here comes his right-hand man, the man in the black hoodie, who is as ruthless and dangerous as Agastya is. Played by Ayaz, this character has taken all the attention in the episodes that have aired.

Pakhi has grown into an extremely beautiful girl, who according to her, is Universe’s most loved and protected girl. However, she is in no way aware that the protective eyes that are on her, are of Agastya and his henchman’s. Any problem that comes in the way of Pakhi reaches the eyes of Agastya first and is eradicated then and there. This explains why Pakhi feels that she is Universe’s lucky child.

The show has its moments of intrigue, with terror and obsessiveness thrown into the plot in every scene. The haunting theme song of the show makes it all the more gripping to the eye.

Back to the plot, Dodo that is Agastya and Pakhi have been best of friends for seven years. Agastya is obsessed with Pakhi, but Pakhi is unfortunately unaware of it. She sees him as a special friend with whom she can openly discuss her love life too. This aspect in the storyline is not new at all, as we have seen many tales wherein one-sided love is the central theme. However, the obsessiveness in Agastya claims to be the show-stealer here!! Pakhi has fallen in love with the paediatric doctor Ishaan (Akshit Sukhija) who is the simple, good samaritan. It is literally love at first sight for the two of them. The story thankfully has not seen a drag in their love story, and the two of them have confessed their love in the very first week. Agastya has a heartbreak when he gets to know that Pakhi loves another guy and not him. His world has come crashing down again!! It is to see how he gathers himself up and goes about getting his love for himself!!

The show has a good look and feel, with the needed glamour quotient added up where they show the events managed by Pakhi. The dark sequences of the man in the black hoodie attacking and tormenting people have been picturized well. The suspense over the identity of the black-hooded guy was carried out well in the initial episodes. His connection with Agastya was exposed in a very eventful manner. The scene where Agastya literally killed his go-to man for leaving Pakhi alone in the deserted palace, was a terrifying scene.

Coming to the performances, Zain Imam is the perfect choice for this role. However, we wonder why Zain has put on the little extra kilos for this role!! His earlier slim and lean look in this obsessive lover role would have been every girl’s choice!! Nevertheless, his eye expressions, rolling of his eye, his facial expressions here provide the ‘kill’ factor!!

Ayaz Ahmed in the terrorizing role is stunning!! His expressions when he was being tortured by Agastya left us stoned. This is the second-best role after Agastya, that any actor could get in this show!! Ayaz is nailing it to perfection.

Reem Shaikh looks extremely fresh and charming in this role. She is a delight to watch. Akshit Sukhija again looks really good opposite Reem.

It will be interesting to see how Agastya goes about handling his heartbreak and how he wrecks the love life of the innocent lovers Pakhi and Ishaan. As said earlier, the one-sided love theme is not new at all for TV, but the combination of the obsessive love and the intrigue attached to the concept will make up for the uniqueness!! This show will certainly provide more and more opportunities for the lead cast to give their best performances. We look forward to the trio doing well here!!
