Star Bharat will be closing down most of its existing shows and in all probability go the humour way in terms of its strategy

Revamp mode: Star Bharat to shut shows, to go SAB TV way?

Star Bharat, the channel from Disney-Star TV network, which dealt with ‘desi’ rustic concepts, as per’highly placed sources, will see a change in core DNA.

The COVID-19 pandemic, as we all are privy to, brought the entire entertainment industry to a screeching halt and all networks are now focussing on content that they believe will deliver.

On similar lines, most GECs have ended a few of its existing shows and once the shoot resumption happens, will go ahead in putting their topline shows on the floor and wait for audience reaction.

Now amidst all this, we have news of Star Bharat changing its strategy and looking at ‘humour’ and ‘family entertainment’ as the way ahead a la SAB TV.

As per a reliable source, “Shows Meri Gudiya, Kartik Purnima have already been shunted. As for the existing more popular shows like Savdhan India, RadhaKrishn, Jag Janani Maa Vaishno Devi, the shows have done well for the channel and will not see a closure mostly. In between there were talks of RadhaKrishn, the channel’s flagship show, being shifted to Star Plus.”

The source further adds, “Once normal functionality begins, the channel will work towards its new concept philosophy of humour laden family entertainment shows and will commission new shows along this line. As for RadhaKrishn, Jag Janani Vaishno Devi and Savdhaan India, there is a high chance of the shows being shifted to Star Plus, as they might not fit into the shift in strategy. However, there are also murmurs of Star Bharat starting off with these three shows to retain its core audience before flagging off the change.”

To get more information on the development, we buzzed Gaurav Banerjee, VP and Content Head, Star Plus but did not get any revert. We also reached out to Producers Siddharth Tewary (RadhaKrishn), Rashmi Sharma (Jag Janani Vaishno Devi) but none responded till the time of putting the article to bed.
