On the 5th of March, in the year 1928, Alyque Padamsee was born. He is by far one of the most eminent names in Indian theatre. Unfortunately, the great pioneer expired on the 17th of November in the year 2018. Alyque was not only a great persona in the Indian theatre world, but also an incredible ad film maker. Alyque completed his education at the St. Xavier’s college in Bombay after being brought up in the same city. The famous personality is also to thank for the contribution of his wives and children to the theatre world. Alyque is widely known as a pioneer in the Indian Theatre world in plays of English language. Apart from plays, he is also known for playing the role of Muhammed Ali Jinnah in the film Gandhi.

In the ad world, Alyque was the head of an advertising company called Lintas Bombay too. However in the theatre world he is known and recognized for his iconic plays like Broken Images, Evita and not to forget Tuglaq which was not only famous across the country but also the globe. These amazing productions of the artist have won him several prestigious awards like the Tagore Ratna, Sangeet Natak Akademi and also the Lifetime Achievement award.
