Benjamin Gilani and his contributions to the theatre world

Benjamin Gilani was born on the 20th of November 1946. He is a very well renowned name in the theatre world for decades now. He is known as an actor in the Indian theatre world. Not only that, but he is also known as a commendable actor in the movie and television world in the country. The actor is recognized throughout the country through his marvelous contributions to the acting industry.

The legendary actor seems to have a lot of knowledge when it comes to the literature world since he completed his post-graduation from the Delhi University and then went on to teach English Literature in St. Stephen’s College in Delhi itself. Moving on the further, the star discovered his passion and interest for acting and went to study at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune in its 1972 batch. What is amusing is that this well-recognized personality in a theatre was the classmate of two other famous theatre personalities which were Naseeruddin Shah and Tom Alter. Five years later, in 1977 he founded the famous theatre group in Mumbai called Motley’s productions with the same classmates, Shah and Alter. They then went on to produce their first play called Waiting For Godot in the year 1979 on the 29th of July at Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai and it was so phenomenal that the word spread like wildfire and fans from different parts of the world came to be live spectators.
