Theatre has been playing a very important role in the world of entertainment and can be credited for shaping some of the finest actors in Bollywood today. Back in the day, the theatre was not only a medium for entertainment and inculcation of new ideas, but also a source of assured educational and social information. Theatre hence became a very important part of the society ever since the olden days and till date it remains as an integral medium that nourishes one’s mind.
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” ― stated by William Shakespeare in “As You Like It”.
Oscar Wilde asserted, – “I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.”
We expect perfection and magnificence from actors but we often forget that – “All the world’s a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed”, which Sir Seán O’Casey reminded us through his beautifully knitted words.
“The theatre is a spiritual and social X-ray of its time.” Stella Adler, American actress, made this quote and it’s a very apt one at that! There is nothing better than theatre that can produce the real X-ray of society in its era.
“Movies will make you famous; Television will make you rich; but theatre will make you good.”
– Terrence Mann, American actor, theatre director. Theatre has indeed played a role for decades now, in shaping the person, much before they even set-off on their path to be successful actors.
The theatre world even in this day and age has a major influence on audiences and inspires people all over the globe.
