The beautiful and talented actor and model Anushka Ranjan is returning to action after her debut film Wedding Pullav, with the upcoming ALTBalaji web series, Fittrat.

“I am playing rich Delhi gal Amy, who is not happy with her life. She is poles apart from me in real life. I was never made to feel inadequate by my parents for anything. So it was a challenge getting her restricted body language right. The story is basically of three youngsters, Krystle D’Souza, Aditya Seal and yours truly. As the title suggests, it is how circumstances make you change your default nature.”

“In fact, when Ekta cast me, she said she has given both Krystle and me roles completely opposite to our real personalities. Krystle plays a fun, outing gal.”

“I have really worked on this one, giving my blood sweat and tears. Hope you like my efforts when it starts streaming from the 18th. At first, our Tanveer Bookwala production (Ding Entertainment) started on a small note; but soon, the scale and grandeur grew as our work impressed the powers to be.”

How bold is it? “It is not bold; there are basic hugging, kissing scenes. But that is how young kids express their feelings towards the ones they love. We have kept it very clean for all age groups.”

“It is unfortunate that most web products are full of s*x and sledging, but I guess this is what happens when you suddenly open repressed flood gates.”

Talking about the OTT medium, this daughter of well-known TV personalities, Anu and Shashi Ranjan, says, “It is the best thing for actors, for there are no restrictions on content. You can say what you want, politically and socially as well. There are so many gripping shows being made across genres.”

“A time will come when OTT will take over films. Even now I hardly go to the theatres, even for a big film, knowing that very soon it will stream online anyways.”

Anushka has no qualms about the long wait post Wedding Pullav. “I am not in a hurry to be seen. I’d rather wait for something worth my effort. And I am not stuck up on billing. I only need a good role, period. No wonder I did a small role in Batti Gul Meter Chalu. I had a great time in Uttarakhand, shooting with Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and others.”

Ask as to what went wrong with Wedding Pullav, and she says, “I am a firm believer in destiny. Maybe I was not ready then. Now I know people on my own dint, not because of who I am.”

“One just needs to keep at it with a positive approach. Success never comes easy.”

In closing, Anushka says she has become very close with Krystle, post the Fittrat shoot. “We recently went for a joint European vacation. She is one of the nicest girls I have ever met. So it feels nice to be in a good personal and professional space.”
