The businessman Madhav Gopal Agrawal lent money to Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, which he later used to reveal the emotional and financial effects of his 14-year legal battle. Agrawal first encountered his legal problems when he lent Rajpal Yadav ₹5 crore for Yadav’s first directorial film, Ata Pata Laapataa, in 2012. Over time, rising interest charges increased the total debt to almost ₹9 crore.
Agrawal shared his personal experience of visiting Yadav’s home multiple times while explaining what happened during those visits. Agrawal explained that he borrowed the money himself and faced difficulties paying back the bank’s interest charges.
The conflict escalated when Yadav issued several cheques, all of which were dishonoured due to a settlement agreement that required him to repay a total of ₹10.40 crore, according to the 2013 settlement. This led to criminal proceedings, resulting in Yadav’s sentence to Tihar Jail.
The Delhi High Court granted Yadav interim bail on February 17 2026, due to ongoing legal complications. Yadav has received financial support from his Bollywood friends since his release from prison, according to reports, including Salman Khan and Sonu Sood.
Agrawal’s disclosures demonstrate how intense financial disputes can create tremendous stress for both parties in the film industry. The case remains ongoing, with final resolution pending further court hearings.
