The trailer for De De Pyaar De 2 picks up where the original left off — but this time, the stakes are higher and the dynamics messier. Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Ashish, still navigating his relationship with the much younger Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh), now with the added twist of meeting her family.

What starts off warm quickly turns awkward when her parents discover that Ashish is nearly the same age as her father, played by R. Madhavan. It’s here that the trailer finds its edge. Madhavan, usually the calm presence on screen, is cast against type — not as a supportive father, but a strategic roadblock in his daughter’s relationship. His involvement instantly raises the narrative’s tension and intrigue.

Rakul Preet looks more assured in her role this time around, and Devgn plays his part with the same dry wit that worked in the first film. But it’s the generational clash — and the insecurity it stirs — that gives the trailer its most compelling moments. Meezaan Jafri enters as a wildcard in this love triangle (or square?), brought in to woo Ayesha away from Ashish — an admittedly absurd idea, but one the film seems to lean into with self-awareness.

The writing hints at sharper humour, and visually, the trailer feels clean and contemporary. Whether it delivers more than laughs remains to be seen, but it certainly sets up a conversation around age, ego, and what love is “supposed” to look like.

De De Pyaar De 2 is helmed by Anshul Sharma, written by Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan, and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ranjan, and Ankur Garg.
