Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who is garnering attention with his latest film Governor, sat down for a candid chat and, during the talk, opened up about his struggle, highlighting that, in times of hardship, survival becomes the most important thing.
In a recent interview with Shekhar Suman, when asked whether he thought he wanted to become a hero or just wanted work. Manoj shared that when you are in a struggling phase, survival becomes the most important part. So, at that time, for him, it was like, it doesn’t matter what he gets; he just wants to survive. He further added that when he gained power, his perspective and options changed with his work.
Talking about whether his character Maan Singh from Bandit Queen earned him respect, Manoj distinguishes between pride and respect: with Maan Singh, his pride increased, but not his respect. He highlighted his role was silent in the film, and after that all the other actors got work; he didn’t.
Sharing more about the struggling period, he named actors Saurabh Shukla and Ashish Vidyarthi who took him to shooting sets and introduced him to directors, and by doing small, small parts, he got the Swabhiman series, which got him respect, and it took five years for him, and he was frustrated a lot.
Further, Manoj revealed he used to have thoughts that he might be thinking he was good, but he was not that good, and at that time Saurabh Shukla encouraged him.
Revealing more about his journey, Manoj shared a phase when he was removed from three projects at the same time, saying he lost three projects in a day.
