Neesha Singh, the former Indian actress who is known for her work from 1980 to 1990 with films like Bazaar and Ankush, in a recent interview, recalled the moment she was hated by the star actor Nana Patekar and also the reason she left the film industry at the peak of her career.
In a conversation with TOI, the actress, who belongs to a Sikh family and was raised in Mumbai’s Malabar Hill, shared that acting was never her ambition, and her journey began at the college canteen, where she was chosen for a video test for a popular brand project. Slowly and steadily, she made her way to the entertainment world.
However, talking about the difficult chapter in her acting journey, Neesha recalled being hated by Nana Patekar. It was during the making of the film Ankush, directed by N. Chandra, where she worked with Nana Patekar. She said, “Nana Patekar hated me on sight.”. He reportedly also questioned her being cast and even warned the director, hinting that because of Neesha, the film may suffer.
On the third day, Nana Patekar’s perspective changed after he saw Neesha on the screen, her reaction, and expression, and he complimented her, saying, “Chal jayegi tu (You will make it).”
However, revealing the reason behind her quitting the showbiz, Neesha shared she moved to Singapore overnight after she got married, and then even in Singapore, she got offers, but she declined them as acting was never her passion; it was just a hobby.
