In order to focus on his mental health, Shawn Mendes has canceled the remaining dates of his world tour, including those in North America and Europe.

The singer-songwriter wrote on social media, “I was not at all prepared for how difficult touring would be after this time away.”

Shawn Said: “It has become increasingly obvious that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally to ground myself and return stronger after meeting with my team and working with an amazing set of health specialists.”

Six of Mendes’ songs have reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Senorita,” “If I Can’t Have You,” and “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” which he co-wrote with his ex-girlfriend Camila Cabello.

Mendes began his globe tour in June to promote his album “Wonder,” but earlier this month he said he would require a three-week vacation. The tour as a whole has now extended into that break.

After taking some much-needed time off, Mendes claimed he had been “hopeful that I would be able to pick up with the remainder of the dates,” but he then added that “at this time I have to put my health as my first priority.”

The musician told his audience that he will keep writing songs and touring in the future. He added, “I swear I’ll be back as soon as I’ve had the proper time to recuperate.”
