Growing up Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle were quite close. There is one incident where it is believed that Lata Mangeshkar refused to go to school because teachers didn’t allow her little sister Asha Bhosle to accompany her. They had a pretty close bond with one another. But it turned into rivalry later due to similar careers and competition.
Lata Mangeshkar started working after the demise of their father. As she was the eldest, she had to take up a job at the age of 13. Initially, she was offered a role in a Marathi movie, and later she started singing. But her high voice was rejected back then as it did not fit the standards. One the other hand is Asha Bhosle who conquered the hearts of industry with her rock music. She sang mostly party numbers that were full of energy and enthusiasm. She was always considered to be a competitor to her sister Lata Mangeshkar, and so Asha Bhosle even tried to be updated and change her voice as per the need. She won the hearts of masses with her voice that had numerous shades to it. She has sung a range of songs compared to Lata Ji.
Ja Ne Jaan Dhoondta, Yeh Ladka Hai Allah, Intaha, and hundreds of blissful tracks were by Asha Bhosle. She has sung songs that were difficult and made them look like a piece of cake. She was a pro and made it look like a child’s play.
