It’s been almost a decade since Rahul Dravid played cricket for India. Since then, the team management has been in search of a player who can perfectly replace him. By replacing him, India needs to find a perfect batsman who can handle pressure well and make the enemy bowler feel like it is a waste of time to try and take his wicket. With each ball that Rahul Dravid defended, he only made the bowler furious. A bowler has to take a long run-up just to deliver the ball at maximum pace. If the only thing that batsman was going to do is defend, it only makes the bowler more and more frustrated and loses his concentration.

Rahul did this in almost every match he played for India. In the past few years, only very few cricketers have come close to fill the void left by Rahul Dravid’s absence in Indian batting. Some of those names include Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and KL Rahul. They have a similar batting style and the mindset to defend the pace deliveries and leave the ones that are unnecessary to attempt. KL Rahul previously had demonstrated that he is a very flexible and talented batsman. He can bat well at any position just as Rahul Dravid did. Cheteshwar Pujara on the other hand has picked up Rahul Dravid’s defending tactics. He has the ability to last long on the pitch for as long as the team needs. His recent inning against Australia during the first test match showed some similar traits. He scored only 43 runs after facing as many as 160 deliveries.
