Actress Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni, soon to appear in Star Plus’ new show Tum Dena Saath Mera, shares her views on fitness, discipline, and how she maintains her balance in a busy life, in celebration of World Health Day today, 7 April.
Aishwarya explains that people used to think of fitness mainly in terms of looks and physical strength. But after working in a tough industry with long, unpredictable hours, her view has changed. “For me, fitness today is about stamina, mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall energy. It’s about being able to perform well on set and stay focused despite hectic routines,” she says. She believes real fitness is about the whole person, not just appearance.
She values traditional Indian habits, especially eating home-cooked meals. “I travel a lot for shoots, and almost 70% of the time I end up eating outside food. I genuinely crave home-cooked food—it’s the best kind of nourishment,” she says. Since moving to Mumbai, she appreciates this even more. “Simple meals, eating on time, and a routine really help me stay balanced.”
As screen time becomes harder to avoid, Aishwarya highlights the value of making small, mindful changes. She takes short breaks, stretches, and cuts down on screen use before bed to stay active, even on busy shoot days.
She says sleep is one of the most overlooked parts of health. “If I don’t get at least seven hours of sleep, I feel the difference immediately—my energy, confidence, and even my appearance are affected.”
While she acknowledges that awareness around health has increased, she cautions against blindly following trends. “True fitness is about consistency and understanding your own body,” she notes.
For Aishwarya, discipline is key. Whether it’s staying mindful of her diet, practising meditation, or maintaining consistency, she believes small, conscious habits make the biggest difference. Her simple advice: start your day with movement and always listen to your body.
