After Choti Sarrdaarni’s Manav, this is another lover boy role for you. Is it a good feeling that love stories keep coming your way?

Of course, it is a wonderful feeling. I am very glad that I am getting such roles. More than roles, I am glad when I get the trust of makers. This trust in channels and makers inspires me.

How different is Ekam from Manav? How differently did you approach this role considering that both are love boys?

Manav had a different upbringing and his approach to life is very much different to Ekam. I feel that you can define a love story once you figure out the back story of the two who are in love. That backstory strengthens the bond of love. Manav’s approach was that everything will be fine in his life. He was so naive that he did not know how life could go wrong. Ekam has a different approach to life. He is a cop and believes that he needs to be ready to fight the wrong that happens in his life. Ekam’s love for Nehmat is from their childhood.

Your chemistry with Twinkle has rubbed on to the audience. What do you think is the striking factor in you both as a Jodi?

I feel we both are passionate about our work. Whenever I do a scene with Twinkle Arora, I feel that we both are giving our best to the scene. We are living Ekam and Nehmat to the fullest is what I feel. The love that we are getting for the Jodi is exciting to see.

Don’t you feel you are getting typecast in lover-boy roles now?

Who will not want to be typecast in this? Still, I believe that every actor has a journey. As of now, I am in the phase where I am playing a lover boy. I am very happy that I am in the lover boy roles now. Surely, I will get different kinds of roles as I go ahead in my career.

What is the kind of difference that you will expect in your next show with respect to the role?

There is time for my next show now. But I will want to be part of a biopic or period drama, where I am required to change my physical presence. I would love to play Krishna, Buddha and any philosopher. As of now, Ekam rules and I love this phase.

How is it to play a police officer in the show?

It is fascinating to play a cop. I am working hard on my physicality. It gives great body language in the role of a cop.

What are the challenges that you had to face as Ekam?

Ekam’s character does not have any challenges. This is the biggest challenge for me. It is a challenge to be relatable to such a simple, loving character. When you get involved in the character, it will come out well on screen.

What do you want to tell your viewers?

Please watch Udaariyaan. I have worked for many years now. Believe that Udaariyaan is the one big break in my life for which I am thankful. I enjoy associating with Ravi and Sargun and the team of Colors.
