With our regional originals, we intend to continue presenting stories that are locally relevant, yet, can be appreciated by viewers worldwide. We are delighted to start our regional programming slate with the Marathi original, ‘Padded ki Pushup’ and are hopeful that our regional foray will help us increase our user base by 30%.”
Nikhil Raibole, Co-Founder & CEO, CafeMarathi said, “At CafeMarathi we believe in creating engaging content for Marathi digital audiences. ‘Padded ki Pushup’ is one such series that grasps the viewers’ attention from the beginning and keeps them entertained with some hilarious moments woven in a well-written story on a relevant topic. We are glad to have partnered with Hungama for the show and are certain that the platform’s reach and strong distribution will help the show find appreciation across the world.”
Speaking about the show, Akash Gursale, Director of Padded ki Pushup said, “Padded ki Pushup combines humour with great performances by seasoned and popular actors. While the premise of the show is funny, the acting and comic timing of the lead cast elevates the show making it an entertaining roller-coaster for the audience.”
Padded ki Pushup introduces us to Aditya (Aniket Vishwasrao), a middle-class man who marries Swara (Tejashri Pradhan), a rich girl, without knowing that he has actually tied the knot with his mother-in-law’s snooping eyes as well. Already upset about her daughter eloping with Aditya and marrying against her wishes, Mangala (Kishori Ambiye) makes it her mission to meddle with her son-in-law’s life to hilarious effect. Unemployed and wanting to prove that he can hold a permanent job, Aditya gets hired as a salesman to sell lingerie – something that he knows nothing about. From depending on the ill-fitting advice of his best friend, Sunny (Saksham Kulkarni), to taking a practical test in a bid to understand lingerie sizes and relying on the Internet for making him a lingerie expert – Aditya must now use every tool available to succeed at work and yet, somehow keep it a secret from his wife. His mom-in-law’s suspicion about his job and her resolve to catch him adds to the comic dizziness that is his life!
Speaking about the show, Aniket Vishwasrao, who plays Aditya, said, “I am glad to make my digital debut on Hungama Play with a show like ‘Padded ki Pushup’. It gave me a chance to be a part of a story that hasn’t been presented before while allowing me the freedom to experiment with my performance. I am certain that the audience will have the same amount of fun watching it as we had filming it.”
Tejashri Pradhan, who plays Swara, added, “Besides the unique plot, the series presented an opportunity for me to act with a phenomenal cast and show my comic side. My character, Swara, is at the centre of the humorous situations that her husband lands in, often seen playing the peacemaker between her mother and husband. I am glad that the audience will be able to enjoy the show anytime, anywhere on Hungama Play.”
Kishori Ambiye, who plays Mangala, said, “My character, Mangala, is seen creating a commotion in her son-in-law’s life leading to many hysterical situations on-screen. I am happy to have worked in Hungama Play’s first Marathi show and feel certain that the show’s unique storyline, humour and performances will be appreciated by all.”
