If you are visiting Agra, there are some places which are historical places and have been world-famous places like Taj Mahal which is one of the seven wonders of the world, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri all these places are declared world heritage sites by UNESCO.

The royal history has given rise to marble inlay, carpet making in Agra, handicrafts, zardozi work etc. Besides being world-famous for its history. The city of Agra also is well known and famous for its special sweets when you talk about Agra sweets. And if you want some famous Agra sweets, do not be worried. There are lots of shops where you can get those sweets.

The most popular sweet dish is Petha. Petha is a soft candy made of ash gourd and sugar. After some years many new flavours and different varieties have been innovated to meet the ever-increasing demand.

Agra has around 50 different flavours to offer, with angori (grape), mango, Kesar (saffron), pineapple, paan (betel leaf), and strawberry being some of the well-liked ones, however dry petha, also known as Agra petha it is the original and basic form of petha.

If you want sweets other than pethas then they are:-

1. Soan papdi: It is made of gram flour and sugar. it’s light and crispy texture is different from the usual sweets and favourites amongst kids. In this, there are varieties like soan papdi, patisa, shon papri, sohan papdi.

2. Laddoos: Laddoos are very common and popular in the locals, they are made with semolina, coconut, gram flour and also they are been sold in various types, like boondi laddoos, besan ladoos, shahi laddoos they are filled with saffron and dry fruits.

3. Dad burfi: This sweet is soft and is packed with the goodness of milk, cashew nuts, flour, ghee, wheat, almonds, pistachios. And it is flavoured with cardamom powder.

Besides these sweets there are other sweets. Such as kaju kattli, peda, rasmalai, gulab jamun, ghewar, gajak and chiki, etc.
