We got a detailed look into Zendaya’s life thanks to Vogue: she was a Disney star who became a full-fledged celebrity, a singer, a self-described workaholic, a (Virgo) perfectionist, Auntie Daya to her nieces, a painter, a homebody, and a true-crime podcast addict (a girl after The Everygirl’s own heart). I was left wondering how she finds the time to maintain her health given her wide range of skills and interests, her starring part in Euphoria, and her involvement in film roles. I learned the inside information thanks to a Cosmopolitan interview and several other sources. Continue reading for five healthy practices that Zendaya adheres to and my attempt to emulate them.

Workout fun

Let’s face it, we all know all too well that we won’t continue with a workout if it isn’t enjoyable, and Zendaya is no exception (we knew we loved her!). Zendaya admitted in a video interview with Justine Magazine that she dislikes going to the gym, so she works out by dancing and choreographing. You best know she makes it interesting when she goes to the gym. Take Zendaya’s use of a medicine ball and her impressive Pilates moves as an example.

Motivation to workout

Believe it or not, even famous people occasionally need a little motivation to exercise. On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Zendaya discussed her outlandish method of holding herself accountable, which involves dressing up for her workouts and attending red-carpet events in various wigs she’s amassed from her red-carpet appearances. Although the majority of us don’t keep wigs around, you get the point. Find out what keeps you motivated to exercise regularly, then do it. Use it to your advantage to exercise regularly, whether it’s a ride-or-die sweat partner, your delightful post-workout smoothie, or signing up for a non-refundable fitness class.

Body Positivity

Zendaya is an unwavering proponent of body positivity who is all about loving oneself and being true to oneself. In an interview with New You, she declared, “There is no such thing as ugly that’s a word that doesn’t really enter my vocabulary. Finding out who you are and loving who you are are crucial. When you’re just like, “Yo, I’m just going to do me!,” it feels incredibly liberating. And she carries out her intention admirably! Zendaya accused Modeliste Magazine of photo-editing her images to make her hips and torso look smaller than they actually are. A happy ending if there ever was one, the magazine later published the issue with the unaltered, original photos from her cover session.
