Just hours after Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon W5 and W5+ wearable chipsets, we already know which initial smartwatches will be powered by the two new platforms.

The Snapdragon W5 is compatible with the Oppo Watch 3, which will be available in August. The information was provided by Oppo’s associate vice president and head of the IoT business, Franco Li. Given that he refers to the Watch 3 line as a series, we anticipate the release of future Watch 3 models, but at least one of them ought to be the first to incorporate W5 technology into an actual product.

We’re not sure if this product will be sold abroad, but we’re hoping it will because the wearables industry desperately needs more competition. While we’re on the matter of confidence, let’s also state that we’re crossing our fingers that Qualcomm keeps its assurances about the W5 and W5 Agility +’s and battery life.

This fall, Mobvoi will follow Oppo into the smartwatch market with the introduction of its newest TicWatch flagship timepiece. The unnamed TicWatch, which will probably be called TicWatch Pro 4, will be the first timepiece to use the Snapdragon W5+. The company itself, in this case Mobvoi CEO Zhifei Li, is the information’s source.

There are no further official specifics regarding these two new product lines, although a previous report stated there will be three Oppo Watch 3 models (how appropriate! ), each with a high screen-to-body ratio and square designs, slated to be available in black, silver, dark gray, and “light gold.”
