Casting Director Vishal Sharma has been in the casting field for more than 8 years and has worked in more than 60 TV shows!!

Presently, Vishal helms the Casting Department at Optimystix Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. He started his casting career at The Entertainment Hub with his first show being Haunted Nights.

Vishal has over the years met lot of aspiring actors who can do anything and everything to get that one so-called big break in the TV industry. And this attitude of youngsters has not go down too well with Vishal.

Vishal always wanted to address this issue and drop in few valuable tips for actors which can go a long way in shaping up their careers and getting them the success they have aspired for.

Says Vishal, “Over the years, I have met and known a lot of struggling actors. There was a day when I too shifted from Delhi to Mumbai to become an actor. So I understand their eagerness and pain at the same time. Though I dreamt of becoming an actor, few shifts in power got me into the casting line. Speaking of Mumbai, I do believe that you have to live in Mumbai to pursue in the field of acting. Anything outside of this city might end up being fraudulent.”

Vishal addresses his concerns right here saying, “I would like to tell the struggling actors of today’s generation that there is no easy way or shortcut of becoming an actor. You need good will power, proper dedication and hard work and the most important of all the three is the ‘right time’.”

Ask him if it is the good look that fetches an actor the coveted role and Vishal immediately dismisses this theory stating, “Having only a good look cannot lead a person to stardom. You must acquire proper techniques and tools of acting. There are no shortcuts for becoming famous. Being an actor is not an easy task; it is not a one day work too. You have to work on it everyday and improve your capabilities at every opportunity you get. You have to study the art and work on it from time to time.”

Vishal has seen many youngsters getting duped by the wrong people in business. “A sincere advice to aspiring actors is that they should never give money to anyone who says that they can get them good work if they give money. They are all fraudsters who will run away with their money. The request to all is to visit the genuine production houses for auditions. Don’t give money to anyone who say that they will give you acting work. Trust only your talent. You will only get work based on the audition you give.”

“Mumbai is the City of Dreams and everyone gets their shot once. It may take just days or few months or sometimes years. But everyone in the industry will see their time coming. Actors should be capable enough to support their needs and always have a Plan B, which will help them in case this idea does not work out”, Vishal adds.

Vishal would like to offer his special thanks to the special people who have supported him always. “I thank my dedicated Casting Team (Ashish Singh, Adarsh Jain, Shubham Yadav, Prathamesh Vengurlekar, Sahil Chawla and many more). Above all, I thank all my Producers, Creative Directors, Directors, Production Heads for making my journey as smooth as this one.”

Wish you luck, Vishal!!
