Excerpts:

Congrats on your digital debut with Bebaakee!!

Yes, thank you, it is already out there.

How was the experience working on the web platform?

It has been and is still a great experience. We are still shooting, and there is excitement coming in everyday. It is a new platform that I am in, and the entire process of shooting for a web-series has been exciting. I am getting a lot to learn.

On TV, you shoot mostly in solo lead or dual lead projects. However, on web, there are a whole lot of characters that come into the play. How do you see this difference?

At the end of the day, one needs to understand that the team is shooting towards making something special. There is an ensemble cast, so after a point, you tend to forget what a hero does, or a heroine does. All that remains is that you are a character, and you are playing a part. You have to perform it with all justice. And if that happens, nothing will stop you from getting noticed as an actor. This is what I feel.

Will Imtiaz Alkazi be every woman’s favourite?

I don’t know about that. But all I can say is that Imtiaz is going to be liked a lot. He is a very sincere guy. He is somebody who is here without any plan, with all honesty and clarity. He is someone who can make sacrifices for a relationship. He has taken care of everyone; such people are very rare. Imtiaz is one of them. It is a challenging part because you are bringing out someone who does not exist.

It is very important to be part of the web fraternity as well: Karan Jotwani 1

So is Imtiaz totally white?

I won’t say he is totally white. He has a few layers that will open up with the story development. As of now, he is white (smiles). You will fall in love with his honesty, sincerity and clarity.

What can one expect from Bebaakee?

You are in for a crazy ride with Bebaakee as every character is unique and gives a lot to the story line. It is an ensemble cast and we are making a really good product. You will see the layering as the family drama unfolds.

What is the genre that Bebaakee will fall into?

There is no one particular genre that you can put it into. I think there is a mixture of a lot of layers, lot of emotions. It is a romantic thriller track. At the same time, it has a lot of emotions involved. It is a roller-coaster ride.

With all your TV experience, how different do you feel is shooting for web?

It is very different, very realistic. TV of course, is OTT and very dramatic. Web is more of a realistic platform. The idea is to get closer as much to realism. The performances are really great and bring out a lot from an actor.

Compare Imtiaz to Neel from Qurbaan Hua?

Neel is totally different. He is all out with vengeance, full of attitude. However, it is also true that Neel has a nice heart. So if there is any commonality between Neel and Imtiaz, it is that both have nice hearts. Neel is an outspoken, loud guy and is here with a mission. Imtiaz has a lot of love to give and has no mission. This has to be the main demarcation.

Tell us about ShivJyoti Rajput?

It is fun shooting with her. We always play pranks on her. She is a quick learner and is very talented. Since we all gelled well off the set, even the stressful and emotional scenes used to be done easily.

Will you be game for more on the web?

Of course, I am. Who isn’t? It is very important to be part of the web fraternity as well. So I am looking forward to more that is on offer. Fingers crossed. With the lockdown happening, work is happening more on the web front. TV after a point gets too similar. Web has a lot of layers. It is great that I am part of two shows when lot of people do not have work.

Your message to fans?

I will just tell them that I am very grateful to have them in my life. If it wasn’t because of them, I would not have been here.
