According to news agency PTI, citing an official, a farmer from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district went to a police station with his buffalo, complaining that the animal refused to be milked. According to the authority, the farmer suspected the buffalo of being under the spell of witchcraft.

On Saturday, a video of the man seeking assistance from the police in Nayagaon village circulated on social media. “The villager, identified as Babulal Jatav (45), filed a complaint at Nayagaon police station on Saturday, alleging that his buffalo had refused to be milked for several days,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Arvind Shah.

Some locals told him the animal was under the power of witchcraft, according to the complainant. The farmer returned to the police station with his buffalo around four hours after filing the application, requesting assistance from the officers once more, he added.

Shah said, “I had told the police station in charge to assist the villager with some veterinary advice. The villager again reached the police station today to thank the police, saying the buffalo was allowed to be milked on Sunday morning.”
