When there is no obvious answer to a problem, the tried-and-true idea of “jugaad” invariably comes to the rescue. No one does it better than Indians, it goes without saying! In one video that demonstrates this, a little boy is shown drying his hair with a desi DIY approach in the lack of a hair dryer. An Instagram user called Black lover ox published the video. A boy is seen in the video drying his hair with steam from a pressure cooker. As the steam from the cooker rises, the boy stands in front of it, straightening his hair.
The video has received over 575,185 likes and several comments, many of which include laughter emojis. While some people were impressed by the method, others believed it was dumb and perhaps hazardous.
One person posted, ”Nice concept keep it up,” while the other one wrote, ”Ye india hai..yaha kuch bhi ho sakta.”
Jugaad is so dear to our hearts that it has now been added to the Oxford dictionary. The Hindi word–Jugaad- refers to “the use of skill and imagination to find an easy solution to a problem or to fix or make something using cheap, basic items”. And we Indians are certainly specialists at it!
