The COVID-19 pandemic forced Hathaway’s most recent movie to delay its theatrical release; instead, HBO Max will host its direct-to-streaming premiere. With Anne Hathaway playing the Grand High Witch, the film reimagines the 1983 Roald Dahl novel and the original 1990 Anjelica Huston film for a modern audience. The cast also includes Chris Rock, Octavia Spencer, Kristin Chenoweth, and Stanley Tucci, who worked with Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada.
