When it comes to achieving ‘excellence’ in the Indian Film Industry, very few manage to do it successfully. One such name is Madhur Bhandarkar. Although his career as a director started with a big flop in the form of ‘Trishakti’, Madhur Bhandarkar quickly understood whats his forte and boom, his second film ‘Chandni Bar’ earned him a National Award. The success spree soon followed with films like Aan: Men At Work, Corporate, Fashion, Heroine, Calendar Girls and many more and he got branded as a director who is known for making the most ‘realistic’ films.
When IWMBuzz spoke exclusively to Madhur and asked him what he is doing during this period of lockdown, Madhur said and we quote,
” I am enjoying this phase. I am a travel freak and mostly I am outside travelling and working. And then suddenly because of this global pandemic, we all are forced to be in our homes. It’s scary and I hope things get better. I am enjoying working out at home during this lockdown. Also, I am spending a lot of time reading good books and watching films. Like for example, I watched Godfather again two days back. I have seen that film umpteen number of times but as a creative person and filmmaker, you cant stop learning ever. I am also spending a lot of time in calling my friends here in India and also in outside countries like Dubai, Muscat, U.S.A, etc because everywhere, the situation is the same and this is the first time something like this is happening. ”
On being further asked about how he is feeling after getting to spend a lot of time with family due to this lockdown, he added,
” Family is always your first priority. I am very happy we are in this together. We would now eat our meals together all the time and it’s a happy situation in the family touchwood. We are spending a lot of time together and I am loving this. Also, I am very interested in gardening and I have a garden on my terrace which I love to take care of. Overall, the environment is very soothing and relaxing.”
Here’s wishing the National award-winning dynamic filmmaker all the best for all his future endeavours. For more updates, stay tuned to IWMBuzz.com
