Sunny Kaushal told Hindustan Times, “My first audition, I remember, was for a shampoo campaign. The casting director informed me I couldn’t act in that. I had been destroyed, completely devastated. Only to look back and realize, ‘It was only a shampoo commercial.’ I didn’t crack a shampoo commercial when all I had to do was take the shampoo bottle from my purse, show it to the camera, and sell it. If I hadn’t cracked that, I was a terrible actor at the time.”

“But, that’s what made me what I am today,” the actor, who acted in Akshay Kumar’s 2019 movie Gold, added. “It makes no difference whether you are good or bad. It gave me the courage and strength to keep moving forward and say, “One day, I will.” I’ve always wanted to do a shampoo commercial deep down. I’ll be like, “Man, I’m an actor today!” when I see a shampoo commercial.”

“We use the term struggle a lot these days,” Sunny stated when asked about his early days in the Hindi film industry. “It’s such a personal thing. It can be different for each individual. “How would you describe someone’s struggle?”

“If I were to tell about myself, I am from Mumbai,” he added. “I had a roof over my head, I didn’t have to pay any rent, and I didn’t have to pay any electricity bills. I didn’t have to be concerned about anything. At the same time, I desired to be who I wanted to be, an actor. That was, and continues to be, my goal.”
