Rachana Mistry the leading lady of Star Bharat show Na Umra Ki Seema Ho, finds the festival of Rakshabandhan very special!! She even today remembers the happy moment when after three daughters, her family had the addition of a son.

Says Rachana, “Rakshabandhan is a very special occasion in my family. For a very long time, we were just three sisters, Krunali, Nidhi and Rachana. I was around 8 or 9 when my brother was born. I will tell you something, brother and sister are equally important as they both complete each other. A brother is born with those instincts in him, that he has to protect his sisters. I have enjoyed Rakshabandhan a lot.”

Rachana actually ties Rakhi to her sisters as well as her brother. “Both my sisters hold a very special place in my life. I tie Rakhi to both my sisters and my brother. Both my sisters have been like the big brother to me. Krunali who is the eldest has been the son of my family. I am very close with all of my three siblings. Nidhi is the sister of mine who has always been there for me. We both have fought a lot during childhood. Rakhi is not gender-limited; it is about who plays that role in my life. And for me, I have three people in my house to whom I tie Rakhi.”

On her special Rakhi memories, Rachana states, “We sisters have this one individual responsibility during Rakhi for our brother Raunak. Krunali has to buy new pair of clothes every year for Raunak, while Nidhi will get what he needs. I have the responsibility of getting sweets that he likes. We still follow this rule to make Raunak’s day happy. The best part is that Raunak tries to contribute; he takes money from Amma and gifts it to us.”

“We have this habit of telling our family about our pre-requirements and asking them to buy something out of it as gifts. We never surprise anyone, but get them what they want. So when I tie Rakhi to both my sisters and brother, I tell them what I need and they get it for me. So this year, I will get a particular type of freshener for my room in my set from Nidhi. We don’t expect gifts from Raunak as he is younger than us. He will take us out for dinner and mommy and papa will pay it up for him,” she adds.

On Rakhi plans this year, she avers, “This year’s Rakhi is going to be short, as I will tie Rakhi early in the morning and leave for my shoot. But I will make the most of the time I spend with my family and siblings. The best part is that my whole family will wake up early and celebrate it earlier for my sake. They will also wait for me for dinner.”

Happy Rakshabandhan to all our readers out here!!
