Excerpts

How has your association been with Roadies so far?

It has been an incredible journey so far. Roadies has taken me to some of the most fabulous places in and around the country and made me meet some very interesting contestants, who aspire to be on the show. And of course, bonding with all the leaders and spending time with them. My five years have been absolutely splendid and looking forward to many more.

Tell us about the web auditions of Roadies and how do you see it in the future?

Roadies LIVE auditions has seen an overwhelming response, it’s great to see so many talented people coming on the LIVE and entertaining us. And of course, it is very different from the Personal Interview and quite a unique experience. Having said that, I hope this doesn’t become the norm. But for the times we’re living in, I think it’s a great format to follow.

What has Roadies taught you?

Roadies has taught me how to be competitive in the right way, use my voice in the right direction, despite the fact that I have setbacks and weaknesses, it has taught me how to believe in myself.

What do you have to say about your co-mentors on the show?

They are amazing, they treat me as equals and there are no gender biases at all. I have known Rannvijay for a very long time and we have quite similarities because of having an army background. Nikhil is an encyclopedia, he has so much of knowledge and Raftaar is our entertainer his instant raps are just speechless, he has a bunch of talent. Prince is equally passionate and a gem of a person. When we are shooting and out there on the field I really feel that the competition is there because we all are very competitive and we also understand what fair play is. We have our differences and opinions while shooting but we keep it till there and never drag it beyond.

How has your relationship evolved with Angad?

My relationship with Angad has evolved with time. He is not only a wonderful husband but also an amazing father. We laugh, we chat. Luckily we have same choice in cinema and shows.

How has your motherhood experience been? Any special moment with your daughter that you want to share?

Motherhood has taught me what selfless love is. Ever since Mehr has come in my life, I look at the world very differently. Everyone out there is someone’s child and you know, their parent would never want them to get hurt. So, I feel like I have far more tender and loving approach to life ever since I’ve become a mom. We’re doing little things like creating sand at home with a little bit of aata or making doll houses with cardboard boxes, we’re not wasting any sort of materials because, we just did a session where we sat at home and made cardboard alphabets from A to Z and then painted them in different colors of her choice.

Do you have any regret in life?

I believe everything happens for a reason. It is for us to learn and grow from our successes and mistakes. So, there shouldn’t be any regrets in life.

What are you doing during the lockdown period?

Lots of things, I have been cooking and surprisingly the food is not only edible but also delicious (smiles). I’ve been sketching a fair amount, it relaxes me, so before I go to bed I do a little bit of pencil sketching at night. And apart from that I’ve been training hard because I don’t want to come out of this lockdown being unfit. So I’ve definitely become fitter than what I was in March when we went into the lockdown. Angad and I get trained together, and we train twice a day.

Any final message?

As the situation this year is different and unfortunate, I would urge and request everyone to maintain social distancing, follow the norms given by the official authorities, stay indoors and take care of yourself and your loved ones. We will all get over this and be back to normal very soon.
