Pearl Padamsee’s Contribution To The Theatre World

Pearl Padamsee was born in the year 1931 and expired on the 24th of April in the year 2000 in Mumbai. She was an Indian theatre actress, producer and director in the English language. The multi talented theatre personality was a legend in the world of acting and has made many marvelous contributions to theatre. She was adored by fans of all age groups and was popular among kids as she ran after-school theatre workshops for them.

Madam Pearl has also acted in films of English and Hindi language. Some great examples of the same are Khatta Meetha, Junoon, Such A Long Journey and Baaton Baaton Mein. The actress got into theatre and discovered her love for it after her marriage to Alyque Padamsee, who is also a famous name in English theatre. The two had a daughter, Raell Padamsee, who also runs her own theatre company in Mumbai. Pearl seemed very active in her career, spanning 1950 to 1990.

Pearl is widely known for her productions in India in English theatre like Godspell, Princess, Don’t Drink The Water, Betrayal and many others, which were simply sensations all over the country. Her plays were so good that fans would come from various parts of the world just to experience the greatness live. It speaks volumes for what a sensational artist she was.
