PCOS is a prevalent disorder that affects one out of every five women. Despite this, there is little public knowledge of the disease, and the discourse on social media has only lately begun. Actress Sonam Kapoor is one of the celebrities who has made headlines for speaking out about her long fight with PCOS.

Sonam has been outspoken about her issue with weight gain and has had PCOS since she was a teenager. In fact, during her undergraduate years, the actress weighed close to 80 kilogrammes. The style diva’s situation was made worse by her bad lifestyle and diabetes. The actress once stated that it was her mother, Sunita, who pushed her to make a permanent lifestyle shift.

“In all fairness, it was my mother who helped me get rid of my excess weight. The first thing she did was to keep me off the stuff I was so fond of as a teenager- chocolates, ice creams, fried foods, and sweets.” as per TOI.

Sonam has managed to reduce her weight, but she still suffers from hormonal imbalance and PCOS. After years of rummaging through fad diets, drugs, and workouts, she has managed to find her way through and now focuses on holistically enhancing her health.

Sonam opened up about the myriad symptoms and indicators of PCOS that have impacted her life in an uplifting Instagram post.

“For a long time, I’ve been dealing with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). PCOS, also known as PCOD, is a prevalent illness that affects many women. It’s also a perplexing disorder because everyone’s causes, symptoms, and challenges are unique. After years of experimenting with various diets, workouts, and routines, I’ve finally figured out what works for me, and I’d like to share my PCOS management ideas with you! Having said that, PCOS expresses itself in a variety of ways, and I strongly advise you to seek medical advice before self-medicating or self-prescripting.”

Continuing on from her previous story, Sonam is known for leading a very healthy lifestyle (have a peek at her Instagram feed if you don’t believe me!) gave a sneak peek at her regular diet, which aids in the treatment of her PCOS symptoms. In fact, her incredibly simple food plan exemplifies how PCOS can be treated naturally without the use of birth control drugs. Take a peek at what she has to say! Sonam’s dishes feature a healthy serving of greens, herbs, and fruits, among other things.

The actress, who is also a vegan by choice, loves a nutritious bowl of coconut yogurt topped with fruits like berries, which are not only her favorite but also one of the greatest meals to treat PCOS symptoms, like many other people with PCOS who are requested to give up dairy.

Even during her busy outdoor assignments, the actress stated that she prefers to eat local and seasonal foods most of the time.

“Normally, I eat only natural, fresh, and locally sourced foods. Wherever I go, I make it a point to eat as much local, fresh fruit as possible.”

Sonam advised ladies to receive a medical diagnosis rather than self-medicate, stating that she contacted numerous doctors before settling on one diet.

“…A skilled dietitian who understands your PCOS challenges and pains should create your PCOS diet.” What’s on your plate right now? Tell me what you do if you have PCOS and what you eat.

While Sonam puts her best foot forward in her films and red-carpet appearances, she also pays close attention to physical activity and exercise. Sonam continues to experiment with her workouts and never skips a session, despite the fact that aerobics and power yoga helped her reduce a massive 35 kilogrammes before her debut.

In the long run, a healthy diet, weight management, stress management, and regular exercise can help alleviate the symptoms. Among the measures taken are:

-Daily exercise (Brisk walk, jogging, or other moderate-intensity exercises)

-Eating a well-balanced, colorful diet rich in anti-inflammatory and nourishing vitamins and minerals.

-Maintaining a healthy and disciplined way of life

-Reduce or eliminate tobacco and alcohol consumption.

-Exercise improved stress management.
