Shama Sikander is one of the prettiest and most talented names in the Hindi entertainment industry. She started with a bang in Aamir Khan starrer Mann and soon went ahead to become a part of several successful films, TV shows & OTT projects.

Shama has always been known to be someone extremely honest and straightforward and her ‘no nonsense’ attitude has always been admired by her fans. She takes her self grooming very seriously and time and again, she has refuted rumours of her getting plastic surgery done. During an interview, when we at IWMBuzz asked her about the same, she was quoted as saying,

“I have got botox done but I have never gone under the knife for plastic surgery. The thing in our country is that the awareness regarding botox is extremely less. People think it to be some kind of magic formula where you look completely different overnight. But let me tell everyone that it is not the case. It’s a process and also it’s extremely normal. Who doesn’t want to embellish his or her appearance? People always say stuff like I used to look different compared to what I look now. I simply don’t understand the logic. When they first saw me, I was a teenager. Isn’t it absolutely normal to change in terms of appearance as you grow older? There are myths everywhere and they should stop. I feel people should educate themselves about botox before they start judging others. It is extremely natural and normal to do so. I work equally hard on my workout and grooming to look a certain way. It’s no ‘magic pond’ where you take a swim and boom, you look totally different. (Chuckles)”

Unfortunately, Shama has been one of those who has experienced casting couch in her career and had to deal with the negativity at a very tender age. When asked more about how she handled the situation then and how did she come out of the trauma, she further added,

“My casting couch experience was horrible. I went to meet this director regarding work and he wasn’t behaving in a professional demeanor. I didn’t appreciate the fact that he would touch me in my thighs without my consent. I even told him after the meeting that ‘Sir before the meeting, my respect for you was extremely high but now, it’s nowhere. I am ashamed to have been an admirer of your work.’ It’s extremely difficult because I was so young then that it took me time to get a hang of what exactly happened while distinguishing between what’s a good touch and what’s not a good touch. My father used to accompany me for meetings there onwards. I have been born and brought up in a certain way due to which I have my own morals. The incident took a toll on my thinking and I have even dealt with suicidal thoughts earlier due to this. It was not easy for me at all. It’s never easy for any woman. It’s extremely shameful and it shouldn’t happen to anyone. Looking back now, I feel all these things made me stronger as an individual.”
