Shershaah, a film starring Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra, was a major hit when it was released on an OTT platform in August 2021. Captain Vikram Batra’s fiancée, Dimple Cheema, is played by the actress, and the heroic martyr’s story would be completed without mentioning his fiancée.

Kiara Advani, who portrays Dimple in Shershaah, considers herself fortunate to have landed this unique role. In a recent interview with E Times, she recalled meeting Dimple Cheema in Chandigarh. She claims that meeting her was a pivotal emotional experience in the production of this picture. “She (Dimple Cheema) provided me insight into her thoughts and heart, which allowed me to emote more effectively on screen.” “Vishal Batra, Captain Vikram Batra’s identical brother, was instrumental in bringing us together. I wanted to learn everything I could about her and try to imitate her as closely as possible.”

Kiara says it was an overwhelming and emotional experience for her to play Dimple and she wanted to know how Dimple and her family feel about the trailer when it was released, “I was eager to know what the family had to say and what Dimple felt on seeing the trailer. Vishal Batra (Vikram Batra’s twin brother) told me that everyone at home was very emotional. Dimple is happy and emotional in equal measures. I know when she sees the film, it will evoke all sorts of emotions in her. She was gracious to share her love story because it’s a crucial part of Captain Vikram Batra’s life.”

“The pride she had for her man and also for what he did for the nation, how he was with her, and how she feels he’s still with her — makes for a beautiful and unique love story,” Kiara said, adding that her meeting with Dimple was emotional because she shared memories with her about Vikram Batra, and each memory was fresh in her mind. “It’s extremely uncommon to choose to stay in love with someone after they’ve passed away. It’s hard to comprehend how tough it must have been for her to make such a decision; he battled on the battlefield, and she fought and stood up to her family, stood by his dream, and stood by her resolve to never marry anyone.” That is extremely inspiring.
